As someone who hates spoilers and likes to discover the story on my own, I have a few thoughts about how much I like how they rolled this out. The heart of the story wasn't in the raid. Did I still get spoiled, yes. People have been spoiling one thing that happens since the PTR (and they suck), but putting most of the story out before those more concerned about getting the raid done and getting clicks on YouTube at least gave those who care about the story a buffer to catch up.

They started doing this in Aberrus. VotI played out like previous raids. It ends, something big happens that sends you into the next part of the story. I remember the complaints about "nothing happens in Aberrus." Yeah it did, if you had sound on and read the dialogue and noticed the, er, VOID.

I'm not going to go into that (this is long enough already). Point is, for a long time you were only rewarded with more story for being a raider. If you didn't raid, you didn't get to experience going through the conclusion of the story until you could solo the raid, two or three expansions later.

Look, I'm a strong supporter of playing the game your way. You pay as much as I do. If all you like to do is raid and care about parses and whatnot, cool! Great! But I'm not a supporter of being a jerk to other players and ruining the story for those who enjoy it.

So, I'm fine with gating major story beats to allow others to catch up. If that denies you clicks on YouTube by not having your spoilery titled video up before the competition... pardon me, suck it! I think major story beats shouldn't even -be- on the PTR!

I loved going back to Aberrus after the events of the raid and I said then, "I hope this becomes a thing, raid follow-ups or a story based version of the raid." So, yes, I love story mode (though I do wish it happened this week--my only complaint.) I loved the party after Amirdrassil!
