Whether we discuss the flimsy control arms that bend under minimal stress, the rims that disintegrate while driving, the bumper which falls right off when towing, or any of the myriad other design flaws, the Cybertruck's reputation for lack of quality control always precedes itself.
I mean it's a great protection feature to be able to just slam the doors really hard to perma lock your kids inside in case a youth pastor is coming at you.
A good deal of this can be attributed to standard “first year of a new design” troubles that we see to some degree in every new vehicle from every vendor. My GV60 (also 1st model year) had its share of recalls as well.
But only so much.. the quantity of issues with the CT has been unusually high.
By comparison I’ve had I think 5 recalls in 2.5 years.
Two were corrected via software updates, but to subsystems not possible to update OTA, so required a dealer visit. Two were AC charger circuitry related, one had to do with a batch of bad axel-shafts.
