Other European countries have done this for years. It’s typically a couple of Euros paid to the accommodation companies (hotels/campsites) which the local government then uses to pay towards the increased costs of local services.
Tourism in these areas isn’t a constant, so would you tax these businesses year round? Or would you tax sales to non-locals, in which case how would you validate that sale?
Good. If we want to get serious about climate change then people need to stop traipsing the world on the cheap. Tourism brings in money but it also contributes to global warming.
