Wouldn’t this risk tech giants simply not paying for news and the public losing access to it? Or risk smaller indipendant publishers not being published on social media? Or Murdoch making a butt tin of profit out of this?
They tried that, cost the tech giants more than it was worth. Elon Musk just had a big barny with the Brazilian government only to quietly go crawling back. They all cave in the end.
Other way around, the social media companies were profiting from exploiting others intellectual property. Just like they are doing with AI now and their users. That's why all the artists are upset.
I agree for artists and smaller news organisations, if the bargaining code was designed for them that’d be splendid, but in this case it’s forcing facebook to pay News Corp and Nine disproportionately.
