I don't have much family and even less that interact with gaming, but I remember vividly watching my older cousin playing FFVIII in '97. I was mesmerized by places like the train graveyard and Shinra. Five years later I remembered the game and started my own journey.

For me my fondest memories are of playing Persona 5 while my youngest brother watched me play. We laughed so much and would crack jokes about stuff from the game. I'll never forget him.

My Grandma used to babysit us every summer, and she loved video games and literally purchased me my first consoles/game.

I would watch her play FF1, FF6, etc….But the first game i played (with her help) was Final Fantasy Mystic Quest….So i associate that game with her

Yeah everytime i see someone criticize that game for being “babies first JRPG” or ridiculously easy…. I am like “duh thats the point lol”

I literally played it as like a 5 year old with no RPG experience, and to this day i dont care how easy it is… i hold deep nostalgia for it

It’s apparently abnormal when I was a kid in 89,but my dad played tons of games too.

My dad played contra, megaman, Mario, drmario(with mom), mariokart, starfox, jet moto, twisted metal, raiden(we beat it together once) road rash, nearly any pool game but side pocket the most.

Yeah, I feel like a lot at that time, a lot less people gamed. So if your parents had a computer and gamed and such, it was different.

Yeah, the specific memory I have of my dad is him teaching me videogames just have patterns. First with pacman and how the ghosts work, then stuff like megaman.

My Mom beat Dr. Mario several times and never knew it. I came home one day to see the ending sequence and I thought it was a new game. She just casually says oh it just does that if you play long enough.

The Christmas my family got the ps2, my older brother woke me up before sunrise and we played almost the entirety of LEGO Starwars that day on a TV that was so dim, shadows and holes looked the same.

My sister and I would play Need for Speed 2 on the computer when I was a pre-teen, sharing one keyboard. She wasn’t good haha but it’s one of the rare memories I have of gaming with my sister (the only non-gamer sibling with 3 geeky brothers) we enjoyed picking our cars, I liked the green Jaguar

One of my favorite examples was Mario Strikers on GameCube. Never mind scoring, the sole objective was to electrocute each other by tackling players into the invisible electric fence boundary as much as possible

The Wii is my favorite console not only for the amazing games it had, because it WAS the console to game with family!

I remember playing Nintendo Land with my family soon after we got our Wii U, and we had just gotten our Christmas Tree put in. My brother would hide behind the tree when it was his turn on the gamepad to avoid screen peaking! It was really funny to see him make funny faces with the camera toggle.

The first time I met my MIL she patted the couch next to her, i sat down and she covered me with a The Rock (the wrestler) blanket and handed me a portable tetris game. We watched movies and passed around the tetris game late into the night. 🥰

My sister and I used to play The Sims 2 PS2 version. We'd spend hours on that game causing chaos, turning sims into ghosts and fooling around with cheats that I'd write down on a piece of paper that I got from the internet. Very fond memories. 😊

My sister and I spent what felt like months playing Gunstar Heroes on Sega Genesis. We were in the basement and we were screaming at each other on the final boss battle to dodge attacks and kick, not shoot. We finally beat it and she threw her control at me in joy.

Pokémon Pinball Ruby & Sapphire makes me think of my mum. We always played pinball games as a family with my brother, and we worked through Pokémon Pinball together. My GBA is long-dead but IIRC we completed the Pokédex between us.
