Tbh i think i can answer this one quite easily.

Because they're telling everyone unpleasant truths rather than happy bullshit.

Thing is we've been pandered to by governments that we are the greatest, everything's fine etc.

We aren't and it isn't. Anyone who says otherwise are kidding themselves.
