I had my suspicions from the get-go, but he played his cards close to his chest. The real clue-in for me was the Crystal Tower fight music with him in upper Kholusia.

When wakes from his nap out by the rock, the line he says solidified it. But as Emet says... "WTF, there should be no-one from the First that can control the tower. This guy came from the Source." And there's only one person we know (assuming you did CT at the time) with the blood to do it.
