This past cycle, the country moved toward Trump by six points. In Washington state, we kept that shift to “about one-quarter of a percentage point” - the smallest in the country.

In fact, if you include every statewide race and not just the Presidential, Washington state actually shifted 0.15% towards the Democratic Party in 2024.

A big part of how we accomplished this was year-round staff, programs, and infrastructure.

WA Dems was the first state party in the country to unionize. As a result, we have long-term staff who bring deep institutional knowledge and community ties to the table.

This makes a big difference, and ensures we're learning and growing (instead of repeating the same mistakes over & over again).

As DNC Vice Chair, I’ll strongly advocate for year-round staff and programs in all 57 states and territories, and do everything in my power to ensure that state parties have the resources they need to build this foundation.

I also strongly believe in the power of new media.

It’s no secret that the GOP eclipsed us online this past cycle. They met voters where they are by taking digital content creators seriously, and engaging with them strategically and consistently.

Got a “framework” memo from Ken Martin today. Nice summary of the continuing crisis, but no “framework” that I could see. He did talk about unions. So is our state party meeting with unions and working on an organizing plan to support ordinary working Americans in Washington State?
