Nevertheless, the games are selling extremely well. AC Valhalla has sold over 20 million copies - the best-selling AC game. I'm not the biggest fan myself, but many people forget how popular the series is.
the real problem with ubisoft is the problem with all AAA devs- the capital that used to be easy to get- it now sky high projects that can bomb in less time then the games made in.
the triple A industry under no quality failure is experiencing the problem with capitalism itself. they made too much/
That's true. That's why there are so few innovative AAA games. Publishers rely on "safe" hits and established brands. This also includes Assassin's Creed. But yeah, it’s pretty easy to bomb. A little less sales than Valhalla would already be a failure for Ubisoft.
right and too much is only a problem in capitalism cause the points to make a profit and supply counters demand. so theres literally an artificial ceiling to how big it can get before (Pop)
after all investors arent gonna be excited about games forever, especially when the innovation is smaller.
I think the bubble has already burst with Concord. At least as far as live service games and too many microtransactions in games are concerned. The market is oversaturated and customers want to get a complete product when they pay for it.
Imagine if Rockstar tries the same thing? We would have half of gamer community with lawsuits because of harassment, or racism or homophobia, they know how GTA works, they know Rockstar is “woke” (as they pejoratively say) company, and they still play the game to cry on X later.
