@bdavictoria.bsky.social when a French speaker don’t prononce a name correctly in English, it’s only because we have difficulties to integrate intonation and stress in our English. Thank you… now I will be more precautious on where to put the stress on Jagmeet name.

I take your point. However, Chantal Hebert a Quebecois, pronounces Jagmeet’s name as do many other Francophones who are media personalities.

While in English, stress can fall on any syllable, and is often used to emphasize content words and create rhythm.

1/4 I agree that saying correctly the name of a person is really important. But native english speaker when listening to a native French speaker has to take into account some particularities of French way to speak.
