I used to love watching my grandfather write as he used the cooperplate bankers handwriting after training in a bank and then running his own grocers & butchers, my dad said that his books were the neatest in the village. I always envied his handwriting

My mother learnt spencerian (v. Similar to copperplate) cursive at school and although she doesn't use it every day, she breaks it out for birthday cards and the occasional letter. I treasure them & catch myself trying to emulate her writing at times ❤️

My dad inherited my grandfathers neatness and in addition he was of the generation who had to write with their 'wrong' hand.(one hand behind the back) As a result my dad can now write and draw with both hands....a bit shaky now due to arthritis though.

When I was chair of the local area Libdems all the local branches had their own treasurer. Most of the accounts came in by email, but one branch had Lord Shutt (mayherestinpeace) as treasurer, and his accounts came in in copperplate handwriting. A little work of art, every year.

I remember going to an auction of postcards written by famous people. One was by the wizard lady. Of course it was crammed with tiny handwriting because God forbid the world should be deprived of a couple hundred extra words by sticking to reasonable-sized handwriting.
