Pediatric cancer patients were my inspiration whenever I felt too tired or unmotivated to go to radio/chemotherapy. I thought, "If their little bodies could take it, so can mine." And off I went. They deserve our support.

I will never donate to St. Jude for exactly that reason. They're sitting on an endowment that's in the billions if memory serves and yet they suck up an inordinate percentage of donations for pediatric cancer treatment. Many families cannot go there for obvious reasons.

Even though Penn State is only a modest sized children's hospital (135 beds), our undergraduates put on a dance marathon https://thon.org and raise tens of millions of dollars/year for pediatric cancer research and care. It's wild. We are truly blessed.

I’ve never donated to St. Jude but I participate in our local Children’s hospital fundraisers. We are very lucky to have the #1 children’s hospital in the country close by, my goddaughter survived her childhood cancer and has been cancer free for 15 years bc of CCHMC.

I am from Germany and it blows my mind that Americans can’t even agree on treating children with cancer for free. Isn’t this supposed to be a Christian nation according to some? I am certain the party of “life” will address that on the very first day…

My parents in Germany complain about the German healthcare system. They mentioned the long wait times to see specialists. I gave them a quick summary of the US system and i think they were a little bit more thankful that they as elderly people with chronic conditions live in Germany. 1/2

It breaks my heart when I read that many Americans that are diagnosed with cancer go bankrupt. You should have only TWO things on your mind after such a dreadful diagnosis. 1) get the best treatment and get better 2) spend time with you loved ones. You should not have to think about money.
