Canadians continue to boycott US travel while Trump is in the White House. #TeamCanada Kudos to the family that lost around $1300 US after cancelling an insured booked vacation https://yπoutu.be/Jf2izA7ma7M?si=i6IZq1NGRmFxQYvW

Canada has beaches too π The West Coast (especially the islands) are particularly gorgeous and we have a ton of lakes with sandy beaches too. Less tourists/crowded as well. Obvs not as hot for as long and more natural, less tourist-y, but still beautiful to visit!
Unfortunately, I believe you are right. So many are suffering now to line the pockets of a few. Thank you for visiting NovaScotia this Summer, it is always nice to share our Province. I hope you have a great time while here β€οΈ

I'd be willing to guess that she still would have spent more overall if she'd actually gone. Cancellation fees pretty much never cover the *entire* cost of a vacation. That probably just covers the fee for cancelling flights and hotel.
No, they would have made more if she went. That $1300 is not going to be going to any individual company. It's probably split between flights, hotels, and any events that needed to be cancelled. These fees exist to keep businesses from going under due to cancellations, they're not profitable.
I work at a hotel. If someone cancels their hotel room in advance, we get to charge them a fee, then rent that hotel room again. Making even more money.
It's only when they are no shows, that we lose out on money.
That's why collective action is important. If Canadians make up a substantial amount of tourists where she was going and we choose not to travel to the US, it's more difficult to replace them. It does really depend on the fees though. The hotel might not lose out but other parts would.
And yeah, it sucks to give them any money at all... But if they count on Canadian tourists, then filling the spot she's vacated might be difficult now and they do lose money overall.
The fact that these "news reporters/journalists" etc KEEP SAYING this is about TARIFF THREATS but fail to mention how that POS keeps acting like he is going to ANNEX OUR COUNTRY is disappointing, to say the least.

Trump, GOP have forgotten that they serve the American people, not the other way around
Americans have the right to express our displeasure. POTUS has the right to not like it, but NO RIGHT to stop legitimate protests
Giving a company $1300 and them not having to offer you any goods or services, is a win for the company.
Like, could she have enjoyed her vacation, and the companies would make less than $1300 profit off of her.
