If I had a nickel for every time a Chinese ship was dragging its anchor on the bottom of the Baltic Sea in the vicinity of important cables I would have two nickels, which isn't much, but it's weird that it happened twice.

If you're doing the one thing experienced sailors tell you never to do, either you aren't experienced, or you are doing something nasty to something on the seabed.
As a US Merchant Marine Officer, I've learned to never underestimate the lack of qualifications, skill, experience, or abilities of many foreign ships, with China near the top of the list. But I still don't believe this was accidental.
Indian nationals. Accidents like this can and do happen. This job is not easy and equipment that spends it's life at sea does fail. But, I wouldn't be surprised if that was also intentional.
If you count the cables cut outside Vesterรฅlen in 2021 and between Svalbard and mainland Norway in 22, you would have 5 nickles... but that was not the Baltic sea though...
No, it's actually quite common that the nationality of the Captain is not of the same country as the vessel owner or the flag unter which it is operating.
But of course this Captain's nationality explains a thing or two!
I've always said ,,, the most EVIL of the YTBD RUZZIAN species involves children... I posted this on April 10, 2022 ..... 955 DAYS AGO ! you're not going to believe it ... but it's truth
Remember: Feb. 2022 โ RUZZIA win in 3 days? de-satanize, de-nazify Ukraine? consequences?uses WW2 & WW1 equipment, canโt defeat Ukr military, begins war on Ukr civilians, Today Peskov may not know Putin's whereabouts โฆ all representing the sick and disturbing INACTION of democracies for 3 years!
The Danish Navy detained the Chinese dry cargo ship "Yi Peng 3", the crew of which is suspected of damaging two cables in the Baltic Sea , BILD adds that the captain of the ship is a citizen of the Russian Federation. (go figure)
Is it possible that the Chinese ship had a Russian "pilot" at the time, ie. a local navigator that hires out to guide ships passing through unfamiliar waters?
The cables were broken by "a strong external force", according to experts, and Russia quickly informed that it was not them, so who who could possibly be the culprit?
Actually, it seems possible that the newest incident includes not just one but two events of dragging the โ๏ธ: 1) across the submarine cable between ๐ธ๐ช and ๐ฑ๐น, lifting the โ๏ธ, and 2) dragging it again across the cable between ๐ซ๐ฎ and ๐ฉ๐ช. In this case, you would have ๐ช๐ช๐ช in your pocket!

I am not sure. The location of these cables is clearly marked, down to a few feet thanks to modern navigation aids. If it was deliberate then a slow steady route could have been plotted without the ship even slowing down. It might have been deliberate, but the captain would have needed help.
I know, right? Somehow, whenever there are high tensions or ongoing conflicts, ships of certain flags just seem to be really bad at stowing their anchors properly. Must be one of those wild coincidence.
Do you mean the Nord Stream gas pipelines?
It's a good thing they exploded from their own internal stress, because those pipes kept all of Europe dependent on Russian gas.
And now it's so good that Europe has found other sources of gas.
And this is not the first time.
Furthermore, there are significantly more planned and executed arson and explosive attacks than the public is often aware of.
This is hybrid warfare and NATO has a matching doctrine.
It just has to be applied.
I know escalation management.
It obviously doesn't work.
This is a war between democracies and dictatorships.
We don't want war but we cannot avoid it, we are already under attack !
And for the sake of Humanity we cannot lose it ๐

This is just ANOTHER example of Russia and China trying to dismantle our democratic institutions and our economies by all means. We need to stop them by showing them the place they belong.

Where will it all stop?
No way this happened without russian and china involved in this.
But of course this Captain's nationality explains a thing or two!
Remember the gas pipe linking Finland and Estonia last year.
The Finland-Estonia comms cable AND the Sweden-Estonia
cable.

These ships should all be paused for detailed controls for 2-3 weeks.
Maybe their poor maintenance caused these accidence? Would be a normal, non escalatory process.
If we keep quiet, tomorrow it will cut even more cables.
