Part two of my year in reflection swimming thread that I rescued from twitter before the end.
This is all salt water, and mostly ocean pools.

I also need to capture Wylie's Baths just next door - so much history for swimming enthusiasts (where Fanny Durack trained).
Apparently it was significantly started in NSW as a post WW1 / Depression era stimulus measure.
They're very addictive though.
The water quality in Port Phillip Bay is average at Port Melbourne, but is stunning near the heads at Portsea and Point Lonsdale.

To understand the scale, the short side of the larger pool in the drone shot is 50M.
Swimming along the ocean side wall allows swimmers to combine the wildness of the ocean with the safety of the pool.

I have swum here when it's pretty cold, but truth be known, those who live in NSW don't really know cold water.

Opened in 1927, funded by the Surf Life Saving Club, this pool was subsequently shortened in 1966 to make it a standard 50M. That explains the stilling basin at the end.

Waves crashing over the side dumped a heap of seaweed into the pool which explains the dark patch in the main pool on this March day.

Tucked out of the way and slightly difficult to access means it's much less busy than it would otherwise be.
I love this light.

When I moved to Melbourne I went to Barwon Heads in November and nearly died😂.
November water can be misleading given often hot air temperatures. The sea temp for summer in Vic is a bit laggy!
