Glue bonding isn't necessarily bad... but doing it right on stainless requires careful surface preparation and tight process control. That's the sort of thing that tends to fall apart as a result of short-sighted cost cutting.

For the average car shop? Most car panels come off with clips, bolts etc. Sure, you can do a poor job of spot welding where necessary but I suspect it's easier to catastrophically fail in the short/medium term with a poor glue job.
I have been working on some stainless parts in my shop lately that need to be sanded and prepped for a coating, and yeah it is quite a lot of work getting the right surface finish. Rushing production and using cheaper epoxies could very easily be the explanation here
I felt like this about humidity for touch screens years ago though they seem significantly better now. Though I also no longer live in a humid environment.

But, as a Canadian, I can say that nothing is tested right in the cold.
Just takes someone leaving a batch out in the light or not reloading the gun at the required intervals and it won't cure properly.
