it does depend a fair bit on how your game is set up, there definitely are some edge cases so its hard to say if your game falls into this category or not without looking at it closer. can you try opening a new game created with the launcher and see if you get the same result? would help rule it out

i still have to ever work directly in ren'py code directly but reading through the project page i'm just kinda shocked something like this isn't already in-engine. it looks like a tremendous QoL and is kinda inspiring in and of itself
