Well I just meant in the sense of, there's more to do than just the same gameplay loop getting harder as it progresses, I know some people prefer that but it just gets old after a while

What sucks is that FNaF wasn't even always like this, contrary to what people said at the time the stories of FNaF 1-3 were actually fairly simple and easy to put together. Even FNaF 4 was relatively simple albeit too cryptic for its own good.

The series just began to prioritize complex stories over gameplay and it's obvious when you play Sister Location. This is also around the time where the books began to be a thing, revealing important things like character names and the main villain's motivations.

I'm glad FNaF 6 at least attempted to ground things again but it still suffered a lot of the same problems. The office gameplay kinda sucks and the ending will make literally no sense to you if you have no knowledge of the books.

Now we have arguments about how canon the books are, how much they influence the games, whether things are retcons or were intended from the start, and it feels like they're constantly going back and changing stuff. This isn't even mentioning how we get lore outside of those too, like that logbook.

Good luck knowing what renmant is because despite it being pretty important, it's basically never mentioned in the games. Want to know a character's name? You better whip out those books. Sorry though, there's like 30 different guys with the same name for no reason. Orange guy who? Book parallels?

You dont find out anything about the robots being haunted in fnaf 1 unless you pay attention to rare Easter eggs

Fnaf 2 minigames are ultra cryptic and also give you nothing to go off of if you don’t already know

Fnaf 3 and 4 are a lot better at showing you things-

FNaF 2's minigames aren't even THAT cryptic, purple guy murders kids, animatronics get stuffed, jumpscares hint who possesses who, that's kinda it

Solving the lore before Sister Location was as simple as "putting this hint together with this one" like with how people figured out the kids were hidden in the animatronics in FNaF 1.

And tbh idk any fnaf fan who says it’s not convoluted, kingdom hearts is a series I wouldn’t say is that hard to understand if you just play the games in order but fnaf is very much intentionally obtuse

I've seen a LOT of FNaF fans on Twitter try to justify FNaF's storytelling and say that it's not that complicated and that people are exaggerating, you can find posts like that pretty easily.
