Sounds like you were very productive, and made a lot of things, they just got frogged. And, though it’s not something physical, you undoubtedly got better at knitting! And your next project will benefit!

I sometimes keep my mistakes in, so I can see how much better I got after that.

I have this yarn. The description says 4-5 mm needles but i find that it’s a fairly dense fabric on 5.5 mm needles after washing and blocking a swatch. This is a lot like BT? But softer stitch definition. If you held two strands of loft together, the way it takes up a bit more room than shelter.

Argh, that would have been hard for me! (I hardly knit anymore due to repetitive strain injury, sadly, but I do love it.) If I were in that situation, I might just make a hat as a palate cleanser before starting a bigger project. But always better to frog than to push on with a doomed project.
