This stretch of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland is so packed with houses of worship, it's been called the Embassy Row of Religions. But locals know it as the Highway to Heaven.

the church i grew up in is also on this street..it was called Immanuel’s when i went there. a wild place that, sadly and unsurprisingly, experienced quite a scandal a few years back.
If you're wondering how this row of places of worship came to be, it's a combo of the County's original master plan that said the NH Ave corridor was reserved the area for low-density development and its Sewer Master Plan that limits service. These buildings all pump their sewage.
I live in Silver Spring and I appreciate the diversity in expressions of faith. The religious school I attended for HS required that we visited other churches and learned a/b their beliefs.

Anyway.
This religious diversity is also the reason why our 3rd grader gets told his 2 dads are “an insult to G-d” on a daily basis- Less awesome. #lgbtq
Stop normalizing lunatics.
Winding road? Twists and turns? Nice article, but no, New Hampshire Avenue north of the beltway is not a winding road at all.
