I think what they're trying to say is we don't read enough and we need to set reading goals. Come on they're NPR if we can trust any news organization even a little bit it's NPR.
I’m not calling out NPR, but anyone who needs to set a goal to get to literature, as if it’s something not essential to living. How sad that a reading habit isn’t second nature.
Habits don't just magically ✨appear✨, they're developed over time. For those of us raised in households or communities that didn't emphasise reading literature, sometimes getting into it at a later age takes a bit of planning until it becomes second nature.
I read "Get the Picture: A Mind-Bending Journey Among the Inspired Artists and Obsessive Art Fiends Who Taught Me How to See" and it confirmed a lot of things about what makes art valuable in galleries. People should go with their gut not people the author describes, lol.
