A new study establishes that soda consumption is doing ever more damage to health — with rising rates of diabetes in regions where soda-drinking is on the rise, like sub-Saharan Africa.

That happened to me. A Coke almost every day for 30 years until my doctor ordered me to give it up (or else) so I've gone without it cold turkey since 2021.
Soda consumption needs to go back half a century. It was a TREAT. It was not a daily drink. Diet sodas are just as bad if not worse. Friend who is obese deludes herself that diet soda is fine w/her fried chicken. If we got rid of sugary drinks, we'd drop obesity & nation's obsession with Ozempic.
I've been a soda drinker so my life, I'm 65. I am not overweight and do not have diabetes. It's the weight issue that triggers type 2, soda doesn't cause it.
Sugar doesn't cause it. It's weight and rarely lean diabetes that's still not caused by sugars.
If you notice, they started using this term to distinguish between the northern Africans, which are mixed with French and German, and the other Africans that are not mixed with French and German."I know that the hieroglyphics show people with brown skin, but they're not sub. Saharan."
Heart disease, liver failure, kidney stones... There are various concerns if one drinks too much diet soda. My dad only has 2 a day but even that apparently is pushing it.
I have never been a soda (we call it pop in Canada) fan--never grew up with it in the house! It's a sugar addiction--the worst kind for health!! Although I did have a diet coke at the IMAX yesterday just to wash my popcorn down!!
Can somebody talk about microplastics? Soda bottles are going to be the end for us and nobody talks about what they did for more profit
Humans wont survive microplastics at this rate,we might be children with a gun in our hands already discharged

39m Personally I found switching to sparkling water to work.
THIS- partner and I switched to sparkling water that has a hint of flavor part to stay hydrated part to give up soda. We have soda as a treat now on rare occassions.
Did CocaCola and Pepsi finally switch the rest of the world to the “Special American Formula” loaded with High Fructose Corn Syrup? Are they super sizing that 💩 too?
The only reason they don’t use real sugar and natural ingredients in the USA is
At this point, with the rise of facism in the US, issues around the world with so many things, I think that there are a lot of other factors that are going to kill me before soda.
They can pry my Diet Coke from my cold dead hands. Could be as soon as next week, maybe tomorrow. But imma enjoy this shit. Just leave me alone about it. I don’t drink alcohol or do drugs or other high risk behaviors. Diet Coke - is all I have. Let it be.

Everything in moderation.
Myself, I prefer seltzer waters. Took a little adjustment but now I guzzle them down without a second thought.
