Barring a last minute sale by its Chinese parent company, TikTok could soon go dark in the U.S. Now, creators on the Chinese-owned platform pay tribute to it — and talk about what's next.

We're in for some interesting weeks ahead! I can't help but wonder if anyone will keep track of how many people actually take a break from the apps next week.
Deleted my TikTok account today and it saddens me a bit. I didn’t have a big following, but I enjoyed the community I was a part of, the movements I witnessed, the silly and creative posts people shared. I have a feeling MAGA is going to exploit it and I don’t need to stick around to watch.
I highly recommend - public libraries…not only is it a land of discovery but there are people there…you never know when or where you may make a new friend…what a *novel* concept
Does it even matter anymore? Shou Zi Chew has already played his cards. Not to mention those last-minute integrations with Meta. If he wasn’t before, he is now very likely selling your data to the enemy.
There are rumors flying that Tiktok will be sold to Meta or another Trump-friendly platform in the US and if that's true, I will be deleting that app forever. I refuse to partake in any right wing conservative media platform. They are literally everywhere and if I have to unplug, I will unplug.
"They do" well, Brazil, China, Iran, North Korea, Myanmar, Russia, Turkmenistan and Uganda do, and of those only Brazil has anything like a recent history of freedom of speech.
Theres strong rumors that FB is buying it. Trump is rumored going to enact the 90 postponement.
FB and Bytdance would benefit too from such a sale especially if Bytdance owns a share. FB from the young users they're hemmoraging, Bytedance for the increase market saturation of elder users.
The ban that violates our right to assembly and speak freely. SCOTUS has been corrupt for 4 years; they’re part of the fascist regime trying to dismantle our republic.
This has very little to do with TikTok; it’s an attack on the values of our nation by right wing fascist. I’d imagine today is a lot like what boomers felt during 9/11.
Can you elaborate? How is an attack on free speech and the right to assemble not an attack on the first amendment? Sure, it’s also a show of force by the fascist neoliberals, an attack on small businesses, and a push for forcing TikTok to divest over to US billionaires’ ownership also.
First amendment argument went out the window when there was a clear reason why TikTok was banned wasn’t there. Is TikTok your only form of free speech? 🙄
The kids and other pissed off TikTok users moving to Red Note is the funniest thing I've seen all week! An actual Chinese app, on Chinese servers, in Mandarin. Good job, US government boomers! 🤣
The local Chinese spies on RedNote are really nice. I asked them what their favorite flowers are and I got hundreds of photos of pretty flowers and plants.
It needs to go. Society as a whole needs to stop worrying less about their individuality and conceit and more about society and each other as a united collective. Its existence only serves the “look at me” crowd and China’s best interests.
I don’t know what games they are ALL playing but I’m not a pawn. Canceling all of them. Blue sky and red note are the new black. #banmeta #bantiktok #cancel #zucksucks
Like current technology, the negatives associated with TikTok far exceed its benefits. I am not that overconcerned about international political impacts of China having data on Americans. More concerned about the mental health of our nation/especially our children. Tech is becoming a MONSTER!
The addictive nature and short attention span it could cause are causes of concerns, however compared to almost every social media, you had to actively search out stuff on TikTok that was negative. Sure it may show a clip occasionally, but it didn't elevate hate and rage to the top like others do.
That is, unless of course you specifically watched and replied to it. The less you interacted with such, the less it appeared compared to say X or FB with sponsored elevated posts that often are extremely toxic
That might be a good reason to set age limits on social media platforms but it is not a good reason to decimate the first amendment and attack millions? of businesses and proprietors who rely on TikTok for income. This is a direct assault on liberty.

Looking at you, SCOTUS.
Looking at you, Merrick Garland.
Y'all were supposed to be our guardrails. You failed.
MONEY.... MONEY...for his pockets!
The nation will be fleeced!
