A devastating indictment of the effects of capitalism on our food culture when "your kid should mostly drink water and not sugar or caffeine" is a surprise to parents
i feel like when talking about kids & energy drinks it is important to remember that the american school system forces kids to be awake & using their brains at their full potential at times that do not align with their circadian rhythms. relying on energy drinks is a symptom, not the main problem.
Anyone remember Jolt? I think that came out in the 80s. Big seller in colleges. As long as kids are sleep-deprived (which seems to be happening more and more) caffeinated drinks will be popular. Besides, the adults are pounding coffee 24/7 so how do you tell kids no?
I’m just going to wait until we get the new HHS Secretary, that is a 14 year heroin addict, a steroid user, and vaccine denier that wants to bring back polio. He’ll know what to do
When I was a kid, the idea of drinking anything with caffeine was absurd, and we only had soda on the holidays. That it. Kids today practically mainline sugar. Parents need to buck up and parent and ban bad food.
