Sam Nujoma, the freedom fighter who led Namibia to independence from apartheid South Africa in 1990 and served as its first president for 15 years, has died. He was 95.

Not like historically significant events are happening right now here in DC. Fascists are taking over & you are using your journalistic talents to report on the death of some old leader 1/2 world away.
The passing of Sam Nujoma demonstrates that leading ones African homeland out of European colonial rule has not been that long ago, a process that began in 1959. It was a long, hard, and dangerous process that claimed many lives, Steve Biko, perhaps being the best known outside the continent.
