"cis" is a Latin prefix that means "same side". "trans" is a Latin prefix that means "opposite side". so, cisgender means "same side", like matching the sex you were assigned at birth. it's just scientific terminology.

Is 900 a lot? Is it stated somewhere what the total number of medals awarded was for the pool of competitions under consideration? If that number is 2000, then 900 is a big number. If it's 250,000 across all ages, dozens of countries, and 20 years it looks a lot different.

A single meet might hand out 100 medals in dozens of individual heats. Now we not only have 1st, 2nd, 3rd as was true when I swam competitively. Now we also often have 4th and 5th, like the participation award that Gaines woman claims to have been cheated out of. She tied for 5th place.

It's not about kicking trans women out of sports. It's about creating a wedge issue that will ramp up the hate of trans women and lead to their erasure, likely violently. And it also creates a distraction issue that allows them to harm all women in the end, like the removing of title IX protections.

I just read a science article on Androgen Insesitivity Syndrome. It reminded me that the fetuses all start as female and then those male defined later. Apparently, some males do not get male genitalia yet are male. Not so rare as you might think. It's 1 in 20,000. Interesting read.

The code to produce a male is present from the moment of conception. Because the differentiation isn't observable at first doesn't mean it's absent.

trans athletes have been eligible to compete in the OLYMPICS, the highest sporting event in the WORLD for almost 3 decades now & in ALL that time .... only 1 medal of ANY TYPE has been won by a trans person & that was by a NB person in SOCCER ... which is a team fuckin sport 😅

If I recall correctly, there are over 100,000 trans people in the US alone, and I personally know several transgender women in my city alone who are school aged. One is being discriminated against and not allowed to participate anymore in x-country, despite her coaches and teammates being supportive

If cis female athletes need to be tested for their testosterone levels to see if they comply with arbitrary expectations on “femaleness”, then male athletes should be tested as standard since their testosterone levels can be variable as well.

Most of the time there is no “male” category. There is an open category and a women’s category so it would make no sense to test for maleness.

There are no rules preventing women playing in the NBA, MLB or NFL.
