Vaccination eliminated measles from the U.S. 25 years ago. But it can still spread in pockets where vaccination rates are low, like the west Texas county with a current outbreak. Here's how fast.

I want to put out to the SaVe-tHe-bABiEs party - that babies don't get their first MMR vaccine until they are 12 months and the second shot until they are 4 year sold.
I feel sorry for the children who get very suck or even die as a result of the religious insanity of their awful parents. Not vaccinating your children is basically attempted manslaughter.
But you will totally ignore it when they finally come out and say how many co-morbidities that poor kid had.
Healthy people don't die from the measles in the developed world.
Unhealthy people die of all kinds of things, and even a simple *cold* could put them over the edge.
Each blue circle is a viral outbreak, the bigger the circle the more cases reported. The greater the overlap between circles, the higher the frequency of outbreaks. Each black dot represents the introduction of a vaccine.
But, some shudnt try to act like vaccines completely eliminate the disease, and now we have to deaL with boosters.
FYI, I am allergic to some components of vaccination and I was lucky to find a dr who helped me find ones that didn’t make me sick or at risk of blood clots.
So are you saying that even without measles, that kid would be dead today?
He had other conditions so he didn't need to live, and it's ok he died of a easily preventable disease
There are long term side effects from measles as well
Believe everything that too-powerful Pharma allows to be put out, if that's the CHOICE you want to make.
I guess you have "faith" that they are only in it to make you healthy, and the Billion$$$$ in profits don't have anything to do with who they elevate and who they silence...
A child still died of a preventable disease even if there was coexisting medical conditions . Before the measles vaccine was introduced in 1963 an estimated 2.6 million people died of measles a year . Explain that away .
Do you understand that the MMR vaccine sometimes kills *healthy babies*???
Also, look up the actual timeline of measles in the US.
Cases *and* deaths were declining *before* the vaccine.
I worked in a busy Pediatric office for 35 years that gave thousands of MMR vaccines … not one death . However before the vaccine was developed in 1963 2.6 million people died from measles per year .
I just got my measles booster today. And I am 62. I got my first shot over 50 years ago. I got the standard polio/ measles/rubella shots back then in order to go to school. Get your vax on every level now before it become 'unavailable'
By your argument maybe those “healthy” babies had a comorbidity? Looking it up it seems that most deaths were in babies with immune conditions. If that’s the case you should argue for more testing before vaccination and proper vaccination in healthy children to protect that immune compromised baby
Also just thought of this. How many babies will never make it into the world at all because their mothers became ill while pregnant and had a miscarriage? The spread of preventable diseases and lack of oversight will lead to this. And abortion bans will lead to those mothers being at risk too…
But that would require being pro universal healthcare so regardless of income level babies with immune conditions can get as much care as necessary to help them thrive.
Honestly as someone disabled with multiple health conditions who was never vaccinated the benefits outweigh the risks.
Bullshit. “Co morbidities,” if true, (how do you know?) would be an even bigger reason for the kid to be vaxxed. And the USA is hardly “developed” anymore. We have atrocious healthcare and outcomes.
Comorbidities don’t mean that it’s okay to let somebody die. About a quarter of the population is estimated to have some sort of comorbidity! And the percentage increases as the population ages.
All of which is to say, comorbidities are probably a good argument in favor of vaccination.
It’s fine imo if it effects those adults who chose to not vaccinate themselves, but my issue is when it effects the lives of their kids who never chose to have shitty stupid self-righteous prideful parents who chose for them, which lead to their deaths & suffering!
If boys have the mumps before puberty, they will have lifetime immunity, and no sterility.
When the vaccine fails after puberty, *that* is when they are at risk of infertility.
Removing these dumbass antivaxxers from the gene pool will help compromised people by creating herd immunity, which we had for measles in the US for the last 40 years.
Yes, so what is your fucking point since we’re being so mature and explaining ourselves. Are you implying that we are being racist? I think you are ill informed unless you would like to explain what narrative you are trying to push.
Ex-JW here. We didn't vote, but I was vaccinated. To my knowledge JWs are not against vaccination. (At least that wasn't the case 20 years ago.) Just wanted to clarify.
Seems to still be the case my cousins are in it and were telling my other family members to get vaccinated because church was telling them too, but they’ve never voted either.
Someone should be doing a story on this: people reporting difficulty donating due to high volume traffic on this site. Americans are opting for direct support, usurping The Clown Car Cabinet and his rude band of Oval Office fools. Together, the people of the world can Crush Putin.
Measles has always been dangerous, even after vaccination, because then, you get soft, and forgetful, it will break out, and in low uptake ares, or worse, NO uptake areas, and it will race away 🤕
The worst of it is, you KNOW this, it is old news, good job you have safe hands at HHS 🤕🤬🤬
I’m 59 and don’t remember when I got my MMR vaccine initially so today I got a booster. I plan to get as many vaccines as I can before they become unavailable by our brain worm dipshit.
I'm one of those people who's had the MMR vaccine like 5 times and I still have no immune response. Which means I need Herd Immunity to keep me safe from the Measles.
Pox however..
Hoho my Body HATES any and all forms of Pox. Why couldn't it be Pox?
You didn't eliminate shit. Stop dramatizing. Vaccinations limited the worst of the sickness and limited the spread of it. There have still been cases, just like there are still cases, however small of shit like plague
Read the post again, genius. It was eliminated *in the U.S.* But it still existed elsewhere, and made its way back here when dipshit anti-vaxers took their kids overseas.
Oh thank you. It would be far more effective to your position if you were less juvenile in your responses! Name calling makes you seem emotionally disregulated which completely undermines any legitimacy to your position. But you rock on with your bad self. Hope you lose your staggering insecurities!
I think you are the actor! Making a general inquiry is trolling. I guess it was far below my intelligence that I misunderstood but you justify your ignorance anyway you like. Free speech, free opinions, first amendment even for those undeserving!
This is a pretty good article in terms of describing how infectious measles is as a virus, and what effect vaccination level has on the rate of the disease spreading. Worth the read (10 min).
Born 1957 I had the 3 on the right. My children had none of these 3 - I wonder why? (ps. I do think rational thinking and science has greatly improved most peoples live)
Project 2025 works right now because they are organized. Oz indicated during trump 1 that sending children back to school with some deaths was part of it. How many dead children infected by preventable disease do they think Smericsns will tolerate? 1 measles death? 100? 1000? When it was 0 for years
I don't understand how there could be pockets of unvaccinated children. I had to show shot records for my children to get into school. I missed a booster so the 1st day of school we spent at the doctor's office instead of them in class. My mom had to do the same for her kids, me.
With an R0 of 18, it’s the most contagious disease on the planet among immune naive populations. B4 the vax became available in 1963 it killed over 2 million children and adults every year.
9 out of 10 people exposed to this virus will contract it if they are not vaccinated. Even 2 hours after the ill person leaves the room, the air is full of shed virus. Herd immunity is so important. Vaccinate your children and keep them safe.
The level of stupidity that you must possess to look at a disease that was a problem, then wasn't, now is again; and not be able to put the puzzle pieces together is astounding. Didn't these people put the blocks into the block shaped holes as kids? Pretty simple concept.
It’s not “eliminated” if it’s still spreading regularly, and that framing is harmful to promoting public health efforts that could help prevent and slow these outbreaks.
It's past tense - it WAS eliminated. Certain terms are used when case counts/community spread are below certain thresholds, much like polio or other diseases that circulate in such low numbers they're not a threat to overall public health.
Antivaxxers have caused a resurgence of cases, the end.
Opening up your reporting on a current outbreak of a highly communicable disease that, due to declining vaccination rates, has been aggressively re-emerging for over a decade with “this was eliminated and is still rare” is irresponsible as hell. It’s extremely poor public health messaging.
That’s not what their phrasing communicates to an uninformed person. It’s ok that you are not familiar with developing public health messaging— I can tell you “it’s not around and therefore I don’t need a vaccination” is a common misinterpretation of this kind of statement.
I was born in 1959 and had mumps and chicken pox before 1st grade. Mom got us all the shots, and the measles vaccine came out before I went to school. (I have gotten my shingles shots already.)
In retrospect every NPR program about vaccination had a part where “some people say”. Is it going to change? Does the media have any role in objective truths?
Very Contagious. For 4 days before and 4 days after. All you have to do is walk into a room. As a child, I had the severe form and had to stay in a darkened room for days.
So glad my parents believed in vaccines and knew math. But then again my dad was born 2+ mos premature because his mother contracted polio in Dec 1954. Just months before the vaccine became available.
For those who may not understand - the "Outbreak" is few counties southwest of Lubbock primarily among the Mennonite community. Problem - Walmart shoppers - Granddaughter works there and has a 4 month old at home who can't get the vaccine for some months yet! I doubt she is alone in this situation.
Thing is, if mama had had the natural measles as a child, she would have actual lifetime immunity, and temporarily pass that immunity to baby until it's big enough to have its own measles - and therefore get actual lifetime immunity.
I know you can't cite any legitimate sources to support your claim that babies stay protected for any length of time.
You just spew garbage. Over and over.
Please include coverage of Section 29.052 (link). If students in Texas attend less than 90% of a semester, they cannot pass the semester. Dr’s notes/excused absences are counted as not attending.
This pressures TX parents to send sick kids to school.
I hate to say it and it is sad for the innocent affected, but you reap what you sow when you ignore science and believe liars and conspiracy theories. Maybe some will have their eyes opened?
Measles was never actually eliminated or eradicated.
They are not using those words correctly; they just want it to sound as if the MMR vaccine is completely effective.
There are measles outbreaks in the US every year, usually in fully-vaccinated populations.
Pay attention.
"Measles was officially eliminated from the United States in 2000, meaning there is no measles spreading within the country and new cases are only found when someone contracts measles abroad and returns to the country."
-CDC website-
The measles outbreak in Disney in 2015 was *not* specific to those fully vaccinated. Only 13 of the 150 confirmed cases were vaccinated. 284 cases total in 2024 and only 11% confirmed with some level of vaccine. U think that's a coincidence. ✔️ urself.
I hate to be mean, but if people are dumb enough to not to get vaccines, then they get what they deserve. I guess it's one way to decrease the population.
It is so stupid!!! Why is there no common sense in folks!! Years ago folks stood in line to get vaccinated!! They understood because they saw people dying
Not always.
And sometimes they KILL, and there's no way to know until it's too late, which ones they will kill.
But of course unless it happens TO YOU, you won't care about anyone who is injured or killed by vaccines.
Yeah too true they might not make one HERE but the rest of the world are not (yet) quite so foolish! I'm sure Europe, the Chinese etc are already working on it.
Which still may not help us regular Americans much. 😖
The thing that's always blown my mind about that and their brief obsession with that lupus med is that those drugs are ALSO made by "big pharma." Why trust them for these meds but not vaccines? It's just bizarre.
This is what happens when foreign propaganda teams up with the Republican propaganda to make so many so dumb that they will even sacrifice their children because of their stupidity and ignorance.

People in these areas claim to be uber-Christian. I am not myself, so 🤷♀️ what do I know? However: "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap." Galatians 6:7, bitches.
Moms used to host “measles parties” so the kids could catch it, and be recovered by September. A mom would bring an infected kid over to play with a whole group of kids. Occasional hearing loss, vision problems, and rarely, a death, were just part of it. The MMR vaccine was a godsend.
Project 2026.
True-blue red-blooded American patriots step up & remove Trump from office by any means necessary.
If the military that We the People pay to protect & defend our Constitution & die for our Liberty ain't going to do it, then We the People will have to do it ourselves by Revolution.
2026 is our 250th year of independence. Is there a better way to celebrate this significant date than exercising the very Liberty this country was founded on, as it was meant to be exercised? Overthrowing the tyranny takes people, courage, organization, & a plan. We have a plan. We need people.
I encourage you to encourage others & help spread the word that a revolution is on the rise in America, because WE refuse to go down in history as the generation that allowed our own country to fall to nazis. We rather be known as the generation that saved America or at the very least died trying.

Way to protect those babies.

Pres. Trump set up hospitals in New York and on the west coast
2 hours later people getting into that elevator can infected.
But now the HHS is run by brain worms and everybody has go back into the office.

Severe vaccine reactions like anaphylaxis occur at a rate of about 1 per million doses
In developed countries, 0.1–0.2% of measles cases result in death.
Severe allergic reactions (e.g., anaphylaxis) occur in less than 0.0001% of doses
All of which is to say, comorbidities are probably a good argument in favor of vaccination.
Keep drinking your probotic kool-aid
We can prevent that. It's called herd immunity.
I took care of someone who was healthy, until they developed encephalitis secondary to measles.

How has HHS failed?
Most vaccinated people can’t get boosters as they will still be immune but I don’t blame them for being worried

They will blame woke trans chinese nano virus made to kill white people before they blame themselves.
NPR doing shoddy right-wing reporting again, trying to minimize covid and encouraging people not to mask or vaccinate.
