People complain about combo decks feeling stale and repetitive to play against, I'm sorry but combat based decks are no better and there's way more of them. Uninteractive "Battle cruiser" magic is the same play pattern every game too.

When if your deck is a little self contained cocoon where you eventually swing out with a big board, it actually feels no different to your opponents whatsoever.
I agree, this is the quagmire of EDH I often experience. Most people want to play goldfish with themselves and win, but it's not any different than doing nothing and winning out of nowhere with Tooth and Nail. If you're playing uninteractively or using uninteractive cards, EDH will always be boring.
It feels like a meaningful distinction that you sacked a dozen clues to put counters in things, but all I experienced are big creatures with trample. You might as well have short cut the whole thing and dropped a craterhoof.

"Choose the form of the destructor" energy. It's been fun for me so far, but then I enjoy being a little obnoxious at the table.
I feel like it's not fun being the villain if you just obliterate everyone instantaneously.
