I put the car in for it's MOT a week ago. It passed with no advisories thankfully. But I had to get other work done, like a replacement valve for the squeaky clutch peddle, a new os front door handle assembly as their partners broke a clip inside a few years back and a new spare key and fob. £1200! - ThreadSky

Unsecured “four month loan” to pay the bill outstanding, which I fell for last autumn after the last service. It turned out to be just two and a half months instead. And this is solely for their benefit as they get commission.

They definitely get commission I’m sure of it. Also you are tied to them. I remember years ago buying a brand new Vespa and had a warranty. Warranty is a very grey area so only covers what they want. Lesson learnt.

It’s a racket. We’ve one more ‘major’ service in the autumn (the last minor one last autumn was more like a major), and we’ll be shot of them. ‘Full main dealer service history’ isn’t worth the paper it’s written on imo. I feel like sticking with Halfords after all this.

And that wasn't including the MOT btw. We paid for two years MOTs and servicing on a plan (won't fall for that again). They called yesterday lunchtime to say they had all the parts in now and could they deliver today as it was a push by close yesterday. I said yes. I'm waiting patiently.

It's a 'dear do' running a car. I only started driving again during lockdown. It's my Mum's car and I'm the main driver on the insurance, and its a lifesaver for both of us, appointments wise between the two of us. We'd be lost without it on that alone.

PS I should point out, it was just before 'lockdown' because I had to get home from my Mum's as they'd stopped public transport. Mum and I created a 'support bubble' which varied by region which made things difficult during the lockdowns. Apart from not being able to get to local vax centres...
