Bluesky has been inundated with scammers. I've had three confirmed scammers and I'm certain there were more before I removed them and blocked all DMs. MAGA? Foreign? Boys who need real jobs? I'm of the opinion, if handsome men start up chats, they are scammers using photos from the web. Probably pertains to some of the "girls girls girls" photos I've seen out there2.

It definitely opened my eyes a bit. I'm already guarded, but esp on here because they collect info. I just wish Blue Sky could monitor ip addresses from notorious scam regions in the world. I'm certain Accra, Ghana is the source of at least some.

I found a post on a lawyer's site that asked for money for
food. Numerous posts from "Gaza" residents asking for money.
Trusted organizations are the best way to donate money to
help them, as they have more buying power & can purchase from further away.

Yes. Genuine BS users with causes are going to hate me for saying this, but I do not recommend giving any money to anyone on this app. Like you suggested, go directly to legit sources. Research if you have to. Our weakened govt can't protect us any more. We are on our own. The way Repubs want it

Me too. I stopped using it for years. Then I joined mastodon but mostly to read about software/apps. There's another app I like, https://Spoutible.com that's very safe & welcoming. It has audio conferencing too, but I never post there.
