There are many reasons to replay a game like different endings, trying a new build, new game plus or just simply the game is fun and i want to experience it again
A few games
But for me it's only the games that give high endorphins per second like a short yet grueling retro platformer..... Or a game that's so open ended that there's faff and jank to explore like Baldurs Gate
Yes but I have a good reason. I was very ill for months during the end of last year, and was recovering during the first half of this year. When May-June came around, I played The Talos Principle. And after that, I played about 25 hours of Elden Ring. Then I played DS3 and beat it 3 times in a row.
I did when I was a kid/teen or if the game is short and intended to be ran multiple times, but most games, I play once and donβt go back. If I do, itβs generally several years later.
Iβll replay Super Metroid every few years or so, butβ¦ thatβs showing my aged gamerness and I just donβt have the time to replay when I have a huge stack of unplayed.
I used to it all the time when I was younger. But my backlog has gotten massive as an adult so currently it is very rare for me to replay a game in the same year lol
One of the best gifts you can give yourself is replaying a game you loved. The replay is often even better imo. Problem is most games are far too long these days. Will I ever replay breath of the wild? Probably not. Will I replay Resident Evil 4, Spelunky, Star fox 64, etc.? Absolutely.
Iβm saying even after youβve completed a hell run itβs STILL worth playing because the game is just inherently funβitβs about the journey not the destination :)
Restarted Kirby Star Allies from 0% twice this year, yes'm.
I think if a game is fun enough or enough of a comfort, it's worth keeping around for a replay like a book you always enjoy rereading.
If it's a game I like enough and I want to re-experience part of the story or something, then yes. Or if there's a lot of room to try something different or play a different way.
Sometimes I just find a good Let's Play series on Youtube and have that on while I work instead though.
well, i did it for the past 28 years (i'm operating under the assumption i didn't play video games before i was 5, otherwise it might be longer), i do see any particular reason to change it now.
I take part in the Four Job Fiesta charity event, so yes, when summer comes around I'm usually doing multiple playthroughs of Final Fantasy V.
And I'm pedestrian about it. The most I've ever done in one year is six runs, and I know there are people who have done several dozen in a single Fiesta.
Depending on the game I might. I want to do another run of Persona 3 Reload, Persona 5 Royal and Persona 4 Golden and grab all of the achievements. Plus I just really like those games.
Oh for sure. Depending on the game I may or may not count it as a completion multiple times you know
Like I played BG3 twice this year, absolutely counting it twice. But I have played a metric ton of hitman this year but could only count each season as one completion a piece even when replaying
At most, I'll replay a game once immediately after finishing it the first time if I need to for a trophy (if its simple enough)π Otherwise I have WAY too many new games I look forward to playing and tend to just move on. I do find it impressive that ppl can replay things dozens of times over though!
I did this with one game these past two years, but Your Turn To Die is so worth it. I have 4 separate 50+ hours save files, and I didn't regret a single hour (for context, 50 hours is higher than usual for the game, I was just clicking on everything)
So far I'm replaying through Granblue story and I got stomped in Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 and 2. But I got further than last time. Also properly beat One Piece Burning Blood.
I did a brisk second run through the highlights of Elden Ring and my fourth playthrough of Fallout 3 and my fourth perfection run of Stardew Valley. This is in addition to 20ish new games. Just gotta be EFFICIENT.
Depends on the game, and if I really liked it... or if it's one of my favourite games. I replayed the whole Crash N. Sane Trilogy once a year since 2018 π
Back when a Sega Master System was new, I used to play and finish Ghouls 'n' Ghosts at least once a week. Now? I'll be lucky to finish a 40 minute show without falling asleep π
Yep! I've played through Cyberpunk several times, loved every minute of it. AC Origins and Odyssey each took a couple playthroughs to platinum and I will definitely replay BG3.
Rarely for RPGs. Off the top of my head (not in 2024 but in the past) I played Xenoblade 1 on Wii 3 times within a year. Ys 1 over a dozen times in 2011-2012 or so. Shin Megami Tensei III twice in 2021 I believe. A shooter like VanQuish/Gears a dozen times in a year. Shmups? Countless times. Depends
Hell yeah :3 I've 100%'d Demon Turf like 3 times, am on my 3rd or 4th run of Frogun, have beaten Pokemon Emerald and Pokemon White 2 like 10+ times over the last decade, etc. Even longer ones like Persona 5 Strikers, which is 100+ hours, i've beaten 3 times now.

Also Elden Ring too many times.
Fallout: New Vegas
Mass Effect 1-3
Borderlands 1 & 2
Guild Wars 1
Dragon Age: Origins
There are more, but those are the ones that immediately came to mind.
Class act, as expected π
It just depends on what you love π
Game is like crack, but better
Okay. I have another idea then.
New Year's Resolution for 2025! Beating Mario & Luigi: Dream Team twice. I'm gonna do it, trust π
It didnβt really click with me as much as I thought, and donβt even have the motivation to do the post-game stuff.
But as for newer games, it really depends on what goal I have to replaying them and well how long the games are

also, who's this "lord" you're referring to?
Who else would it be?

However, I usually don't play the same game more than once in the same year.
