My mother is 75 and she told me it’s worse now than it was back then. My grandmother said the same. She said “at least back then, you knew where you could go. Where you couldn’t go. The lines were drawn. It was out in the open.”

I feel a lot of sadness for our Black elders. Dinner last night with my mom (79) and aunt (83). We talked about how they grew up in the South under Jim Crow and marched, protested, organized and FOUGHT for their rights. Now here we are again. They should be resting not preparing to fight again.
