I already don't participate. There's zero reason to have national anthems before sporting events anyway aside from recruiting our kids to military service by blending sports and nationalism. It's a gross marketing scheme

It’s ok to acknowledge that it’s awkward. Doesn’t make us less patriotic. Honestly, I just find it weird.
I lived in Canada for two years of high school. They played their anthem every day over the intercom before first period. Serious overkill…though I do like their anthem very much.
I openly refuse to recite the pledge of allegiance. Just the name itself I can't stomach. I'll stand quietly but no way am I reciting an allegiance in a group for no reason
I’ve never understood the need for either like it’s ok at the Olympics when you country wins but every sporting event on your home soil? Nah not necessary. It’s not like we do it before plays or movies why just sports? 🤷🏻♂️

International competition I can stomach, but I’m seeing it before little league games. It’s really not necessary or appropriate.
I dont think I’d boo, but I get people wanting to & they have every right to do so.
I also don’t bow my head in prayer
