I saw this with my son and I had no idea the movie would be so generic in all aspects, sadly. The songs honestly sounded AI generated, they were so bland.
To be fair, Hollywood has never really been all that original. It's mostly built on adaptations, remakes, and sequels. It's just we didn't have the Internet and home media, so everyone forgot about movies a year after they released 😅
We have movie passes and can see unlimited movies at Regal. If we go see two movies in a month, it pays for itself but of course we go every week sometimes twice a week!
Interested to see how you guys wedge Zionist propaganda into the DCU. Maybe you can have Superman burning Palestinian toddlers with his heat vision, Green Lanterns guarding checkpoints in a space version of the West Bank? How about Batman brutalizing campus protestors?
Hollywood scum. Fire Ezra.
I know people are going after the Moana 2 mention, and yeah fuck that movie, however I’m pretty sure this statement includes both Wicked and Gladiator 2, which did great this weekend, and is just a general appreciation for theaters doing great
The animation teams were paid tv rates, they will not see any bonus from box office. I doubt they will even be credited appropriately.
This is Disney being sneaky and trying to normalize outsourcing future animated features avoiding TAG artist.
You just got to make good stuff.
That’s all people really want.
In the age of $20 movie tickets, people want to get what they paid for, which is to see a good movie. Anything less is a waste of money and a disappointment.
Yes, but it's a double-edged sword. Movie's a rushed product in tone with the direct-to-video sequels. It's literally three episodes kind of stitched together like Milo's Return.
I mean, It's kind of shameful that Disney, one of the frontiers of creative revolution, has resorted to guaranteed success and prefers box office number over the importance and artistic values of original films
I mean, block buster numbers are great, but I would settle for more medium to small budget movies with realistic profit projections resulting in steady revenue. Seems like the industry norm of putting all your chips on Black (Adam) and hoping your quarter/half billion dollar movie doesn't flop 😬
Clearly there is an audience for the theatrical experience. Now we all just need to give them movies that they want to see. People outside the entertainment industry always think that's the easy part. But no one sets out to make a movie that doesn't connect with the audience.
To think Moana 2 was going to be a tv show dropped on Disney Plus. Really shows how much self-harm studios have committed over the last few years in their obsession with streaming.
And people can poopoo adaptations and sequels all they want but the safety for the audience partnered with escapism is a powerful thing when things look dark.
Oh cool! Would love to know your thoughts.
My two favorite new movies this year were Furiosa and The Apprentice, have you seen those by chance and if so, what did you think?
Do you think people should stop complaining too much about the abundance of sequels, prequels and spin offs these days? Shouldn't we just accept it as a natural progression? A sequel or a prequel can still be a great movie as many movies have proven
I think people who complain about a lack of "original content" both don't realize that "sequels, prequels, and spinoffs" fund that original content *and* that they apparently aren't going to see that "original content" if the box office numbers are anything to go by.
I don’t think people are inherently ipset with sequels, prequels and spinoffs, quite a few of them are very successful and well received. I think the problem is when they don’t live up to the original, and exist solely because of the original’s success and not its own merit.
I think the good side of all the over leveraging of existing IP is that it makes up for something we lost in the last couple decades with the deluge of CONTENT - shared experience.

But people returning to the theaters again is nice.
Hollywood scum. Fire Ezra.
Becomes increasingly more and more appalling considering animation does better and better every decade.
We NEED these experiences right now.
People just want good movies. If it’s good, it’ll do good. If it’s mid/bad, it’ll do bad.

I think my next movie will be Sonic 3.
Hopefully longer theatrical windows and longer period before coming to streaming will help.
