Making progress in KCD2 and oh boy it is going to be really fun watching a wave of players (outside of the Czech Republic) google "Jan Zizka" and realize who the strangely competent mercenary captain they've run into is based on.

Just an extremely famous historical figure and Czech national hero who is introduced quite matter-of-factly in the game (because he isn't that famous yet).
It's like meeting Napoleon as, like, a young captain in 1792. "Here's Captain Bonaparte, he seems clever."
No wagon forts yet (but maybe later in the game?) but he is the character who introduces the new firearms and repeatedly shows off their potential effectiveness, which makes a lot of sense.
Maybe there will be a scene where Henry and Jan are fleeing in a wagon and Henry uses a shield to protect them from attackers. Then Jan has this lightbulb moment and mutters ‘you may be on to something here…’
(I'm kinda of assuming that a lot of folks from the Czech Republic are going to realize more or less immediately who that is when they meet a guy named 'Zizka' who introduces himself with the first name 'Jan.')
I genuinely admire Warhorse's dedication to making sure that every climactic boss goes down in two hits to the head, while making random Bandit No. 157 a Demon Souls level boss fight.
Certainly true - in this case, with the right dialogue choices, he notes he was foolish to take off his helmet and of course the reason they did it is so Henry is the one responsible for Jan Zizka being blind in one eye.
When I was in school in Russia, we had the Hussite wars (and Žižka specifically) in our middle school history textbooks (6th grade, I think).
I don't remember if we had it covered on a specific lesson or not though.
Is it not the case in the US?
IIRC those were covered in the Tzarist era textbooks too, so maybe it was a continuation of the Pan-Slavism agenda into Soviet (and then post-Soviet) era - something not relevant for other countries.
I'll admit, I also proceeded to check if he was involved in the relief of Vienna from the Sabaton song, but wrong century (and today I learned that Hussite and Hussar aren't the same thing!)
I already knew about him so (nearly) slicing out his left eye was a seriously hype moment for me. I didn’t realize he was going to be in the game so slowly realizing we were going up against Czechia’s That Guy of military history, and then got to team up with him, was quite the ride too.
Error! A Keyboard finger slip while I was attempting to write, "A Jan Zizka period hero film (2022) is up on Amazon Prime too, which has likely made people who might not be aware of who he is."
