It is so true… Thank you for sharing. I have a daughter with disabilities and yet I hadn’t thought of that aspect of life for people with disabilities (possibly because my daughter gets anxious around people she doesn’t know).

Yes it won’t be the case for some other #disabled people which is why I think it’s important to double check first but otherwise treat disabled #children how you normally would to everyone else - as human beings with feelings and rights!

I am always mindful to try to tickle lily, hold her hand or stroke her hair so that she doesn’t feel like a leaper but often more unfamiliar people are too scared or worried to go near her. This makes me (&I think her) so sad 😢

So my message is - don’t be afraid to give someone in a #wheelchair a hug! She will let you know v.quickly if she doesn’t want you near (a quick hand / a https://v.sharp kick, or she will turn her face away). If in doubt, check with the #parents first 👍🏼 pls don’t be too afraid of offending or presuming!
