People already distrust their phones for spying on them to give them adverts of things theyve spoken about.
The future robot will be making tea while suggesting a new crockery range and doing the dishes while whistling an advert for washing up liquid.

I've asked the same question since I got interested in robotics as a kid...You don't build a front end loader to mimic 200 men shoveling, why would you build a robot to do anything that wouldn't take advantage of designing its shape to best perform its function?
