I don't remember *exactly* but it was to the tune of "marriage is about not having it all and sacrificing" and while I don't disagree that there's probably some sacrifice done in marriage, the idea that just cuz you're married you are supposed to just settle for being unfulfilled is wild to me.

For the record, her upside is the security and the children. She sees me dating a married man in a polyamorous relationship as him benefitting and me getting nothing because there's no marriage and children.

She has even commented to me that when someone we know's mother passed, her daughter who is married but has no kids and was very devoted to her mother would have had an easier time if she had kids to pour her energy into. Which....no?????

I've never been a parent to small children, nor have I ever had any inclination to be one, so whatever floats your boat, I guess. Security, though? I'd feel far more secure having career skills of my own than hoping someone else provided for me for the entirety of my life, but whatever works.
