National Literacy Institute: Illiteracy has become such a serious problem in our country - 130 million adults are now unable to read a simple story to children, 21% of adults in the US are illiterate in 2022, 54% have a literacy below 6th grade, 45 mil are functionally illiterate & read below 5th
Sounds like the Department of Education should be abolished or rebuilt from the ground up. When it was created in 1974, USA had the #1 education in the world. Today, the USA ranks 49th. For the $240 BILLION budget, were not seeing a good return. Abolish it. Give power back to states!
The red states are part of the reason the US is ranked so low. Without the Dept. Of Education it would be worse. Red states budget's are also subsidized by blue state taxes....
So we should keep a massive failure like the Dept of Education with it's bloated budget OR get rid of the Red states to pad the numbers????? That's some progressive thinking. We only care about "our own". LOL
I said neither. The Dept. Of Education just like other things could be refreshed. Red states had to be forced by the government to educate all children equally. Trump could have "fixed" it and he didn't - and because of that, he wants to eliminate it. Argue with yourself. #readingisfundemental
Or watch his congressional testimony where he justifies this by arguing that giving said bullshit cures an hour on his show with no push back or skepticism isn't actually an endorsement.
