Instead of providing human made handouts, which lead to human conflict, plant native species that feed them their natural diet, and provide a healthy water source, such as a regularly cleaned birdbath, or a biofiltered pond. 🧵🦝🦌🦆🦊2/7

Handouts often are a poor substitute for their natural foods. This can cause growth deformities - such as angel wing on ducks and geese - or malnutrition because they just cannot digest it when their bodies shift for browsing in the winter season - such as with Deer.

Not to mention how it can draw in other individuals from surrounding areas that also adds local food pressures. This congregation also increases the risk and spread of any disease in a population. Rabies for example.

Hungry and expecting handouts with possibly transferable disease is a recipe for violent attacks and emergency hospital visit. Authorities may then have to cull the population to avoid future attacks and disease spread. What would help is...

1) Talk with your local Wildlife Rehabilitator /Rescue /Service 2) Find and plant native food sources for wildlife. Such as Brambles for their berries, Fruit and Nut trees or shrubs, Wildflowers, logs for bug and herp hunting (frogs, newts, salamanders, etc.), and safe water source
