The biggest reason to do it now is it accentuates the chaotic destructive quality of Trump and he wears it all. Within six months Trump's decision making will be smoothed over because that's the nature of a new administration - all decisions are front loaded. So action then has less impact.

While congressmen only need swear to uphold the Constitution, I wonder if failure to maintain government functions is ethically acceptable to one who holds that office.

On the other hand, I see that any action they take must be weighed against continued support of an agenda-driven administration.
