I have zero respect for the argument that building *near* a heritage site ruins it. Countless examples of when a modern streetscape surrounding a very old building makes the historic site look even more impressive.

Moreover, even though they won't destroy the value of 'that' property, density around train stations will create far, far, far more value than would ever exist in an average heritage site.
It's a nonsense idea. Even if it were true that heritage loses some intrinsic value if placed next to non heritage - that's not sufficient reason to stick a city in a box on the shelf and treat each house and street as a museum piece.
