End-to-end encryption by default means “if you show up with a warrant or a subpoena (to Signal), they have almost nothing about you that they can hand over,” EFF’s @evacide.bsky.social told @cnn.com.

This article summary is misleading. Encryption algorithms are NOT created equal. Some are stronger than others. End to end encryption be default does not guarantee privacy. With that being said, I advocate for Signal and for VPNs I like Proton. Brave for my browser and DDG or Startpage for search.
And while you are at Proton, lets add Protonmail or Tuta mail for that matter. People need to stop using GMail or whatever it is they are still using from 10 years ago.
Excellent point. I ran out of characters in my original reply. Lol. I'm not familiar with tuta. I am going to look into them later. Thanks for the suggestion!
I always get nervous when people praise "end to end encryption" because that still doesn't tell you how the initial key exchange happens, and isn't that the hardest part?
Having end-to-end encryption is good. Better if it's strong encryption.
BUT there's still traffic analysis, which does not require reading the messages themselves, and I suspect Signal would find it harder to hide that even if they tried quite hard.
Yes, and you can even host your own server for them and others if you want to take it even further. Matrix org and that can be used on element as a chat app or any other you can find.
Alas, still waiting for this and other private messaging apps to be accessible for the blind and disabled community. I'm glad somebody out there gets privacy.
I need one with more functions. This would be for a private group, but we don't want all of the messages organized under topics to disappear. We need some boards where people can learn & get caught up too. It needs video chat & group chat & other functions for team productivity.

Never forget traffic analysis.
How do I securely chat with my tech illiterate family and both of my friends?
