Then there's the further realisation that the police was never anything more than just another crime syndicate, shaking down and abusing the poor and vulnerable and propping up the wealthy elite. Their role was never in protecting or helping the people, but in enforcing the rule of the powerful.

Again, the job of police SHOULD be to protect everyday citizens and workers from the rich, the powerful, and from corporations. To balance things out since things are already skewed in favor of those groups.

But a hypothetical law enforcement system based on empathy, that actually exist to serve & protect the people and the public, to be actual officers of the law, not tools & soldiers in all but name of government, the rich & powerful, and corporate interests? A public safety system that does all those things, yes, but at its core police cannot be reformed to do that, and its entire system is constructed to self-protect first, then protect property.

It functions only as intended, which is what it’s doing now. You gotta throw the whole idea away

That's exactly what I was saying. Throwing away the current system(in a way that minimizes collateral damage to the public) and starting over fresh with multiple systems in place to KEEP it as a public safety function, to actually get it right this time. I very purposefully NEVER mentioned reform.
