I'm looking over the credits and I'm seeing a lot of the same production crew for Section 31 as will be behind the scenes on Starfleet Academy, and that shit has me *concerned* right now.

If there's any real sin of Section 31, it's bringing in Rachel Garrett and utterly wasting her.
She could have been any generic Starfleet junior lieutenant. If you didn't know she was meant to be Captain of the Enterprise C one day you'd barely be interested in her.
I guess I knew she wasn't the traitor? But not even that, I spose, since anyone can be a mirror/shapeshifter/droid/etx
What I don't get (among many things) is why the official Starfleet liaison with the, at best, top secret (& at worst, not officially existent) black ops division is a jr lieutenant
What got me is her habit of constantly reminding everyone (and the audience): "Hey, did I mention how I'm part of STARFLEET?!", and yet in never amounts to...anything!
I think the script was the issue but ultimately surprising as it started as a series and was in limbo for years. I think it just lacked a clear vision but there were some good ideas there. it’s clearly broken into acts that are leftover sloppy attempts to move episode writing into a film

Captain of the Enterprise C(haos) indeed.
