The autistic urge to copy the facial expressions and speech patterns of who you're speaking to often is a way of signaling a desire for acceptance. I can't count the amount of times my laugh has altered based on who I’m talking to.

Some neurotypicals will say autism is not an excuse to be creepy, or a jerk. They call us immature when we have meltdowns. It’s sad.
OTOH, you look at the definition in the current DSM and there’s actually a daguerreotype headshot of me as illustration.
