Road safety Saying that we canβt use pop up headlights is like companies trying to stop farmers from fixing tractors (it did happen and itβs not good for economy)
I routinely find myself in my chevy volt in front of trucks whose hoods are higher than my roof.. headlights melting my eyes..
Long ago, we gave up with any notion of pedistrian safety. The fact many trucks are now equipped with front bumper cameras because their FOV starts 8ft out..
You know those things have the manual release hidden in the door well so if you haven't read the manual (and why would someone who buys a cybertruck lack foresight?) And the car crashes and catches fire it just roasts you alive. This has actually happened already
It's dumb, but in this country even prior to a manchild purchasing it, trucks are subject to less regulations than cars even when the majority are pavement princesses that haul furniture once every 3 years
I'm not defending the nazi road dumpsters for a millisecond, but: the reason pop up headlights aren't road legal is because the mechanisms that allow them to open are prone to failure, preventing the lights from opening during operation.
For anyone who's curious: In the U.S. apparently we allow "self certification", but no car maker has ever done it. Car makers assumed no-one would buy a car that wasn't government safety inspected and approved.
The CT wouldn't have passed, so they self inspected and only idiots bought them.
Also the other main reason we dont see pop up headlights is we donβt have the same restrictions required standardized headlight shapes so the new headlights are more aerodynamic than pop ups and donβt have the mechanical failure point of the motors, hinges, wire bending, etc.
One Cybertruck has arrived in the UK. Imported via Albania and siezed by Greater Manchester Police within an hour. Can only be collected on a truck as it cannot be driven on British roads. Sharp edges and too heavy.

Every time I see one, I feel exactly like Shep⦠except I also feel like I die a little inside on top of that.

They couldn't compete so they cheated by lobbying
Americans *love* their trucks and automakers have embraced the "aggressive" square styling.
Ask yourselves:
Is pedestrian safety their real priority?
Or is it the pockets of the super rich?
Maybe I misunderstood? Idk
not to mention the PS1 has the infamous
PS1 hagrid π

It is about profit.
