I am inspired by groups like the Climate WG which had a lot of ideas how to push thing forward despite any adversity they encounter, it gives me hope.
Find folks you like and follow who "they" follow, but Bluesky also has Starter packs to help people you invite avoid feeling like they arrived too early to a party. You can search over 6k starter pack from the link, but make your own later to help invite your friends later! #AMIA2024
There is no central algorithm here at Bluesky, you have control of what you see via subscriptions to various Feeds. There are over 18K feeds right now, I linked some science focused ones below. You can also build your own custom feeds via sites like https://skyfeed.app #AMIA2024
One of the best feeds to help you get started here is the science feed, which is a white listed feed that you need to request approval to to post to with the test tube emoji 🧪 Other highly recommended feeds are #MedSky #MLSKy #AcademicSky and you can swing by #HiSciSKy too! #AMIA2024
There is a Chrome plugin designed to help you find your old friends from Twitter. FYI - Twitter has thrown up barriers in the past which can make this process tricky #AMIA2024
Bluesky is an open network built on a new protocol called AT Protocol, adjust your settings in Setting > Moderation Some key things to know: Posts, Likes, & Blocks are public. Mutes are private, but mutelists are public lists. Your mutelist subscriptions are private. #AMIA2024
In addition to the Moderation tab in setting (where you can set up Mute words, and configure your Moderation Services). Spend some time in the Following Feed Preferences and Thread Preferences. #AMIA2024
