A minor example, but this speaks to how craig mazin’s approach to storytelling doesn’t align with TLOU.

Part 2 breaks a lot of conventional rules in both its structure and content which is why it’s divisive. Mazin seems beholden to the expectations of a general tv audience.

What's so funny about this cardinal rule is, in highschool, I was trained by one of the best journalism teachers in the state and one of his catchphrases was "kill the puppy."

It meant that, if you're focusing on a story, but get distracted by something more visually attractive, cut that shit out.

It's not a cardinal rule in Mazin's own work! The dog killing episode of Chernobyl is extremely difficult to watch, but it is also extremely memorable and moving.
