They're also on WhatsApp, but that's also Meta and even harder to get rid off. All my clubs and committees use that for all communication because 100% of our members are on it

It wasn’t always, and it was already used widely in Europe by the time Meta bought it. It’s what everyone uses instead of texting or iMessage and for clubs/school communication. We’re kind of forced into using it!
The only way I can share photos with my 95-year-old aunt in Australia is if I upload them to Facebook and set it to be visible only by her and her children and then tag her. This is the tech she learned and she's not going to figure out another method any time soon.
How readily we uploaded our personal data for free, to be monetised by people who turned out to be fascist megalomaniacs. Still, I guess people still drive Volkswagens...
